Pay a Bill FAQs

Why have we switched Pay a Bill systems?

The new Pay a Bill system brings better value to us and to our members. Plus, it will allow us to easily add new features down the road, which will make paying your bills a better, more seamless experience.

Why am I being asked to re-enroll?

All users are being asked to enroll in our new Pay a Bill system to ensure they have a chance to view the terms and conditions. If you have used Pay a Bill in the past, your history, payees and scheduled payments will still transfer. Scheduled payments on or after May 24, 2021 will still be completed whether you enroll or not, as long as there are no errors with the biller information.

How do I know if my billers need updated information?

Billers highlighted in yellow will need additional information in the new system, so please check your billers after May 24.

Where can I find the new Pay a Bill?

The location of Pay a Bill hasn’t changed. It is still available in digital banking under Payments > Pay a Bill in the menu.

Was my old Pay a Bill information transferred to the new system?

The following data was be transferred to the new system.

  • Payees/billers – All billers. The status has been changed to “Active,” but you may delete the biller as needed.
  • Pending payments – All pending payments.
  • Payment History – Payments for the last 6 months.
  • Reoccurring Scheduled Payments – Payments scheduled to reoccur.
  • Single Scheduled Payments – Payments scheduled to send on or after May 24.

We recommend noting your current data and checking it for accuracy once it’s been transferred.

Will my reoccurring payments still be scheduled?

Scheduled payments on or after May 24, 2021 will still be completed, as long as there are no errors with the biller information. Biller information errors will be highlighted in yellow, so be sure to check your billers for accuracy.

Will my payments scheduled for a later date be transferred

Yes. If your payment is scheduled for May 24 or after, it will be transferred to the new system. Please check your scheduled payments for accuracy after May 24.

What will happen with my e-bills?

E-bills and billers associated with e-bills will not be transferred to the new system. If you use e-bills, you will need to re-enroll. To pay your bill electronically, you will need to log into your account with the biller via digital banking and follow the steps.

Why is the address of my biller not displayed?

If it is an electronic payment, the address of your payee will not be displayed

Can I place a stop payment on my bill payment?

You can stop a check payment in digital banking under Additional Services > Stop Payment in the menu or by calling 800.627.3328.

How do I send a check payment to an individual that runs a business (such as a landlord, photographer, etc.)?

In Pay a Bill, select the option to manually add a biller. Then check "I don't have an account number." Enter the necessary contact information for your biller. Then, you will be able to schedule check payments to that biller.

Why did my electronic payment change to a check payment?

If any of your biller’s information changed between the time you originally set up the payment and our enhancement to the system, it may have caused the payment to be sent as a check rather than electronically.

Why do my funds leave my account sooner with the new Pay a Bill?

Because the new Pay a Bill system uses a slightly different model, your funds will leave your account sooner than they did with the previous system. With the new Pay a Bill, you will find your payments are deducted from your account on the "send date" of the payment, one business day before the selected delivery date.

Converting to Pay a Person

For the security of your contacts and external accounts, Pay a Person information was not converted from Popmoney. That means you need to add your payees into the system.

Pay a Person FAQs

Were my previous external accounts, scheduled payments and data from PopMoney transferred to Pay a Person?

No. To ensure the security of the external accounts, your Popmoney payees were not automatically transferred.

What is the difference between Pay a Person and Pay a Member?

Pay a Person is a new service connected to our Pay a Bill system and can be used to transfer money to individuals who are not members of Purdue Federal Credit Union.

Pay a Member is our member-to-member payment system, which provides free, secure and immediate transfers between Purdue Federal accounts. If you’re transferring funds to another member, we recommend Pay a Member for convenience.

How do security questions work?

When using Pay a Person, you will set up a security question and answer for your recipient to answer the first time you perform a transaction together. That means you’ll need to share the answer with you recipient separately so they can receive their deposit.

Please note: The answer to the security question is space sensitive. That means if you write “PurdueFederal” without spaces and the recipient writes “Purdue Federal” with spaces, the security question would be invalid. Your recipient has a limited number of attempts before the transaction is cancelled, so communicate the exact answer.

Why do my funds leave my account sooner with Pay a Person?

Because the new Pay a Person system uses a slightly different model than PopMoney, your funds will leave your account sooner than they did with the previous system. With Pay a Person, you will find your payments are deducted from your account on the "send date" of the payment, one business day before the selected delivery date.

How do I send a check payment to an individual that runs a business (such as a landlord, photographer, etc.)?

This is best done in Pay a Bill, not Pay a Person. In Pay a Bill, select the option to manually add a biller. Then check "I don't have an account number." Enter the necessary contact information for your biller. Then, you will be able to schedule check payments to that biller.
