I feel Purdue Federal has very good Checking Account and debit card transactions. It has always gone off without any glitches. I don't have to keep a minimum balance in my account; I'm able to use it to the last dime. I don't have to have overdraft protection with Purdue Federal's Checking Account whereby they could put me on that and charge me interest without my say so.

My debit card only works at Walmart. I have contacted Purdue credit union many, many times about this and they don't care. I drove to a show out of town one time and couldn't buy anything, because my card would decline. Even though I had more than sufficient funds. I have also tried to use my card at an ice cream shop for 3 with way more than sufficient funds and was still declined. How embarrassing. I was embarrassed to death. Also, Purdue credit union is very fast and unforgiving on checking … Read More

I absolutely love my free Checking/Debit Account. The best part of it for my husband and I is that we can get a new card on the spot if we ever needed to. We have used this as a selling point to many of our friends who were unhappy with financial institutions they were working with who had long waiting periods and fees on top of that.

Best Checking Account out there! I do not live in the Lafayette area anymore, but I can still bank here 24/7. Through the amazing features on smartphones and online, I can stay connected and pay bills. I can also search local credit unions on my phone that I can use to do face-to-face transactions when needed. And who can pass up the rewards earned just by using your debit card as credit?!

Purdue Federal is not what it was. First, several credit unions and even banks in the greater Indy area are paying 4-5% on checking and savings accounts while PEFCU pays almost nothing. Second the automatic transfers system fails regularly resulting in work to reverse late payments that should have never happened. I was the fool for continuing to let PEFCU have any of my money.

I have been a member for roughly 15 years and have loved the Checking and Debit Card services. PEFCU was an early adopter of many paperless services and I have used them all from the beginning. I have not written a check for about 13 years and it has been wonderful to have things automatically paid and deposited. When I need help from a PEFCU staff member they have always been friendly and professional.

PFCU was my bank from 1990 to 1995 (student). Then served 30 years in the USAF and am a retired colonel. Retirement was 2 months ago so decided to start a business and consolidate multiple bank accounts opened after a long career moving around the country/world. Going back to my roots at PFCU seemed logical. Contacted them to open an LLC account and they DENIED IT b/c it wasn't (yet) my primary financial institution. Had to cancel a $250,000 wire from Wells Fargo meant to fund a personal CD :-(

I keep this account for several reasons, the main one is when I return to LaPorte and Indiana, I have easy access to accounts. This is my spare account and have been pleased with the one on one business transactions I have enjoyed for the past 10 years.

I'd like to find out the formal procedure to terminate my account with PEFCU - once I pay my credit card debt, which will happen in a few days. The reason for my decision is your incompetence in judging a customer's value who has not missed a bill once in the past 6 years and you're letting him down when he needed you only once in those 6 years. I have been recently declined a credit limit increase, because I was profiled as a student.

I will never bank anywhere else if I can help it! Been with Purdue for 20 years and have had very few problems and those were resolved quickly. We have lived all over the US and the world and have kept our money at Purdue. We use all paperless functions, Online Bill Pay etc. Love everything about it! Even though my card doesn't work sometimes, it's because of the wonderful fraud protection in place! Love PEFCU!
